56 TV and Radio masts in Sweden

The TV mast at Sveg in Härjedalen
In Sweden there are fifty-six bigger TV and radio transmitters placed all over the country. VFR flyers often use these masts as good landmarks because of their height and their lights. For the same reason it can be some use for them also when flying in a flight simulator.
The fifty-six masts in the package are actually designed because of the wish for them from many of the users of Swedflight scenerys – especially from those who often fly VFR. They existed before in a limited older version for FS2000 where their visibility was very short for technical reasons. That problem is solved now and we can therefore release the package again in a complete and much more realistic edition.
PLACEMENT
The
location in the real world of the
fifty-six masts are shown with coordinates in
a table in the PDF file that is enclosed in the package.
LIMITATIONS
The masts in the package are of one common size and look. They
are all 325 meter (1066 feet) high above the ground and have two high intensity
flashing white lights with full visibility also at about 22 km (which seems to be the
maximum in the simulator) plus 5 low intensity
red obstacle lights with shorter visibility. In reality the masts can differ some
feet in height and some of them have only one flashing light, something that may
be corrected in a later edition. The location of
the masts has also in some instances been moved somewhat compared to the exact one in
the coordinate table to better suit the mesh and the surrounding landscape in the
simulator.
INSTALLATION & ACTIVATION
The activation of the masts is described in the enclosed PDF
file. Please note that the mast directory should have a higher priority in
Scenery Library than our airports, otherwise the masts will not come into sight
in some places. The package can be used in FS2002 and FS2004.
Those of you that have installed Airport Pack#2 can download the TV mast eraser down here to exclude the already existing masts at Nacka in the Stockholm scenery - otherwise four masts will be standing there instead of two.
