This airport in Umeå is situated almost exactly between the other two - Sundsvall and Luleå - that also are included in package #3. Like them it is placed at the Gulf of Botnia with the shore near the end of one of the runways.
Umeå airport is quite young and was built in 1961 on the premises where it is today very near the city center, but has a much older history that started at a grass field at Nordmaling south of the town between Örnsköldsvik and Umeå. As usual you can read much more about the history of also this airport in the Airport Handbook that accompanies the scenery packages. We always try to dig up as much as possible of the older history, using every official source we can find but mostly we use a lot of unofficial unpublished internal data found at all airports.
The scenery from Umeå airport is very complete and contains about 30 buildings where almost everything is included. Only some of the most important buildings are shown in the pictures down here. All our airport scenerys are built with true photo textures also in the night version which means the the airports have to be documented twice to get all the needed photos. Some of the fine night photos can be found in the pictures down here.
In this package two more airports from the north of Sweden are added. Along the Gulf of Botnia there are ESPA Luleå-Kallax and ESNN Sundsvall-Härnösand making together an attractive combination of airports to visit.
The package is compatible with FS2004/FS2002.
