Terminal building at Pajala airport

Pajala community is situated in the northernmost corner of Sweden at the border to Finland, 240 nm south of North Cape. The newly built airport here (the latest in Sweden) has an excellent location next to the Torne River, with the midnight sun in the summer and the unique polar light in the winter. These were some of the important factors that was thought of when the airport was planned back in 1984. But most of all was a deep feeling that an airport was an absolute necessity for the industry that was growing here. Now when the airport finally is existing after so many years of planning and has been operating for two years, it is already apparent that the effort to ensure a purpose-built solution have paid off. The airport has meant improved communications for the people of this faraway village, noted for its software and hardware industries; it has also quickly become a new destination for many private tourist flyers from central and southern Europe traveling to North Cape. But you can also stay here and enjoy a whole bunch of fine local attractions. Among them are the salmon fishing in the Torne River, one of the finest salmon rivers in the world, bird watching in summers and reindeer or elk tracking - just to mention a few of them. Read more about this very interesting part of Sweden in the Airport Handbook.

Regular traffic goes to ESPA Kallax with two flights every day for the moment - a 40 minutes trip.

Some words from the Council Leader here are really worth noting, they are true for all airports but especially important for this one:
"An airport is indeed something special, because 1,500 meters of road or railway allows you to travel just 1,500 meters, whereas 1,500 meters of runway lets you reach the whole world."

This scenery is published as a free demonstration of the technique used in the airports from Swedflight. Even if this is a small airport it contains most of the proprietary features found also in our latest and coming payware scenerys - like the extremely smooth taxi lines with double edge lines, 3D taxi lights,  3D approach lights and working 3D PAPI lights.

The scenery over Pajala Airport is compatible with FS2004/FS2002.
