FSX and Swedflight Pro update
Many of you are wondering how our present scenery packs for FS9 eventually
will be able to run in FSX.
The answer is simple - they will not.
This is because of the vast differences between the FSX and FS9 that
requires a complete redraw of every scenery. In short we intend to redesign
our scenery for FSX as times permit, but this work will take far more time
than we initially expected. This also means that we will not publish any
upgrades from former FS9 scenery to FSX, only brand new scenery packs.
There will be unavoidable missing features as well as new replacement
features that will not look as we are used to from FS9. We are sorry for
this but all scenery manufacturers are facing this very same problem and we
do believe that you want to enhance your FSX stock airports anyway.
FSX airport traffic and the static FSX apron objects are hard coded to work
with the default airport layouts, so this feature may only work OK where our
design matches default. Where real world layout differs we will deviate from
the default layout in favor of the real world airport. You might thus find a
couple of FSX baggage carts sitting in blast fences on the apron if this FSX
feature is turned on. At the moment there is no way to exclude this feature
in FSX at a particular airport.
As "a first out" Stockholm-Bromma (ESSB) will be released with its adjoining
Stockholm City photo scenery.
The photo scenery will be a 4.8 pixel/meter mesh (terrain) following scenery with FS water and well integrated with FSX.
No photo scenery will be required in FSX, and if you by any reason should prefer so, it can easily be deactivated.
What visual experience changes to expect in FSX with SwedflightPro:
Taxiways and aprons will be covered by FSX default asphalt and concrete. Their looks will be better but it will be a very "unison" visual experience between all add-on scenery at the moment. Concrete upon asphalt, as in our FS9 scenery, at the stands will not be possible. Certain other features may have to be omitted.
Taxiway/apron lines will be replaced by the FSX "automated" system which for example gives a bit more jagged curves as well as curved stand connections with apron taxi lines in both directions, the same thing at taxiway intersections. This does not conform to taxi line connections in real life, but is a drawback that is not possible to overcome at the moment.
Taxiway/runway signs will be of the default XML type (ICAO).
Overlaid stand numbers on the asphalt surface may flicker and thus be excluded.
User redrawn AFCAD2 style files will not be compatible since they will interfere with our basic airport layout drawn in XML code.
LandClass enhancements for FS9 do not work in FSX.
3D objects can not have reduced visible range as was the case in FS9 so, the more objects at an FSX airport, the heavier frame rate impact.
FSX Autogen settings cannot be overridden so you might get a lot of houses popping up way too close to the field area when autogen is on and there is no photo scenery at the airport.
What will work in FSX with SwedflightPro like in FS9:
3D buildings (completely redrawn)
Apron lighting (completely new)
Wig-wag system (RGL) (redrawn)
3D approach lights (redrawn)
Docking systems (redrawn)
